Sporting the trend

The olympics has affected england in many different ways, little did we know it would be affecting our fashion as well (or so it would seem). Sport luxe and sporty features can be seen all over the high street at the moment. The trend looks good, feels comfy and can be achieved so easily. It has never been cooler to become a jock. Here's some features to look out for: exposed zips, draped jackets, jumpsuits, acid brights, two-tone, crop tops, racer-front vests and wedge trainers.

Racey lacey

Lace took the bedroom by storm a long time ago, now it’s time for our everyday wardrobe to follow suit. Lace tops, lace trousers, lace skirts, lace dresses... Even lace bras are making a sneaky appearance under casual clothing. Not only is it all over the high street, but celebrities from Emma Watson to Lady Gaga to Kate Middleton have been seen wearing it.

Middle; Lady Gaga in Dolce & Gabbana at a book launch party.
Right; Emma Watson in Rafael Lopez at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows premiere.

It has also been seen all over the catwalks, Erdem had this off the shoulder baby yellow dress with a pleated skirt and lace sleeves. Versace opened Paris Fashion Week with this sleeveless grey lace, floor length dress with a high jewel neckline and with a panelled corset underneath.  Valentino then went a bit less formal with this pastel pink sheer shirt with lace detail paired with pink lace shorts (all shown below).

Right; Valentine S/S 2012.

Lace clothing is also being sold all over the high street in a lot of pastel shades which is right on trend for S/S 2012.

Right; Asos sleeveless skater dress in lace from Asos

Celebrities, designers and the high street have all got lace right so far, but maybe glow in the dark should be left for stick on stars in children’s bedrooms and raves...

X Fetish

Big fetish trends in the X Factor this week.

It may be hard to tell but Sophie, Frankie, Misha, Kitty and Sami are all dressed in black/what could be a fetish trend.

Kelly was also in black/fetish trend.

Puffa from another muffa

Rumour has it that the puffa jacket is back. Something that would only be acceptable in the coldest of weathers and sometimes not even then. But apparently it's now the latest trend and a key item for your winter wardrobe. So what's with the sudden turn around? The reinvention of the puffa came about during the a/w 11 collections of many designers. Isabel Marant created a long gilet puffa, Alexander Wang reworked them into ponchos and anoraks and Thakoon Panichgul gave it a blue and red check pattern with an hourglass design. Even though I may not be the biggest fan of puffa's this reinvention may have me changing my mind.

The F Factor

So my not so guilty pleasure at the moment is definitely X Factor. Every Saturday and Sunday and then even the Xtra Factor afterwards if I have the time. There is a lot of talent this year, so they may have the X Factor, but do they have the F Factor(F being for fashion)? Before the live shows begin they always try to revamp all of the contestants which usually results in them looking worse(unless they are old in which case it is usually necessary).

What have they done to Frankie? Put him in some see through top and a sleeveless leather jacket? He isn't Russell Brand!

I don't know why they felt the need to dye Janet's hair ginger? It's like they're trying to make her stereotypically Irish. She suited her previous hair colour.

I don't know how well you can see Sophie's shoes, but they were definitely the highlight of the show, fashion-wise, for me. I just tried to find where they're from but Google didn't want to help, oh well.
By the way, sorry if this post is lost on you which it probably will be if you don't watch X Factor.

Wears Wally

So last Thursday at Elements may not have been the best idea, Ben & Jerry's and alcohol is not something I will be trying again. However next Thursday the theme returns to dress up, and this time round it's Where's Wally. Firstly where would I buy Where's Wally attire and secondly surely wearing the real outfit would be way too hot to go 'clubbing' in (clubbing in Epsom just doesn't sound right). So as a refresher, what do Wally & co wear?

I think I'll cross the dog off the list. And the wizard man. I don't think I have any yellow stripy clothes so I guess I'll cross the creepy looking guy off the list too. Leaving me with wally and his lady friend. I don't even have any red and white stripy clothes... I guess a shopping trip is in order.

Hopefully this is the outcome!

Westfield; new shopping centre or new town?

You may have had your doubts about Stratford in the past, but if you were to visit now you would have a whole new perspective. My new perspective kicked in when I visited Westfield shopping centre for the first time this Tuesday. Forget visiting Track'n'field next summer, you should be visiting Westfield. Calling it a shopping centre is a huge understatement, it's more like a new town, Westfield town. Meaning I'm definitely looking forward to, hopefully, going again next week and letting my student loan take the hit. Eek. Here's my favourite buys from round 1 at Westfield.

Leather (I use that word loosely) skirt from H&M.

Another H&M item, velvet black dress with zip detail down the front of the dress. But my favourite buy of the day?

£10 well spent.
